Diocese of Exeter

DARE examined all of the diocese domestic holding portfolio, using Reduced Standard Assessment Procedure and a sampling methodology to represent building age, construction, size and type. They deduced a carbon emission figure for all of the properties. This approach was based on construction and excluded in-use factors of occupancy and began with a 2010 baseline.

All measures of energy efficiency and renewable energy installed after the 2010 baseline was applied and an action plan of measures deduced across the portfolio in order to meet the 2020 and 2050 targets. Carbon and cost benefit analysis was carried out on a raft of measures to determine which would create the greatest carbon saving for capital investment.

The diocese are now partnering with an organisation who is securing ECO2 funding to provide grant support for the installation of cavity wall, loft and room in the roof insulation to diocese owned properties to help achieve their 2020 target.
